In Search of the Impossible: 200 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Mexico and France: Guanajuato Museum of Art and History - 54th International Cervantino Festival

The work While the World Goes Round (2022), by French artist Rebecca Brodskis and part of the Amparo and Manuel Foundation’s collection, is traveling to León, Guanajuato, to be included in the group exhibition In Search of the Impossible: 200 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Mexico and France. Organized as part of the 54th Cervantino International Festival, the exhibition explores the long-standing artistic and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Curated by Michel Blancsubé and Julien Cuisset, the exhibition will be on view in the Luis García Guerrero Gallery at the Guanajuato Museum of Art and History (MAHG) from October 3, 2026, to March 28, 2027. The project brings together the work of Franco-Mexican and international artists who have lived, created, or exhibited in the country over the past 25 years, articulating intersecting perspectives on memory and territory.

Brodskis’s practice explores the human condition, vulnerability, and the figure in states of existential suspension, resonating with our collection’s central focus on contemporary portraiture. Following his first solo exhibition in the country (UN GESTE – A GESTURE – UN GESTO, San Luis Potosí Arts Center, 2025), the inclusion of this work reaffirms the foundation’s commitment to institutional loans and the public circulation of art.
